freezing gaming problem

this is a problem of my brothers, thought id post for him.

basically about 5 days ago, my brother was playing fable lostchapters, and when he loaded a file, the pc froze. after restarting the pc, the computer would be feezing all around. after reformating the computer. at first my brother had 2 partitions (split the drive) and it would constantly restart at the windows loading screen. one time we got a screen giving an error of the booting devices or something in the hardrive. but after reformating again it was fine. when he installed a different game then fable, it would freeze at the main menu, as well as a few other games too. any suggestions? ideas?

well not sure much more then that. but the problem ended up being the power supply. a few weeks back he put in a dvd writer. now it just finally gave out i guess.
