sometimes,when i open media player 10,and when i click on artist tab to sort it alphabeticaly,it just shuts down,for a part of second blue screen opens...and shut down!!!

my pc is amd athlon 2200 1,8ghz

win xp sp1...
it looks like this,i just turned on my comp,opened mediaplayer,try to sort library...and ....juhuhuhuuuu there it goes...
i was thinking of switching back to wmp9,but there are some features i need with 10,and i never had thoes problems before,a month ago,i installed winxp again,and may be a week later sp1...Comment

I am glad you posted your problem here, this is an example of something that a lot of people need to know! It's pretty complicated tho. You have 2 choices, either do a clean install all over again and then immediately apply service pack 2 or make your own cd by slipstreaming sp2 into the install files for xp. The important part in all this is not to load any old drivers and to not have any programs running in the background when applying the service pack.Comment

What may have happened was after you installed windows, and then other programs, something was running in the background when you applied service pack1. For over a year now I have been installing xp w/ sp2 as a clean install and haven't seen any of these kinds of issues.
Service pack 2 is fine, it's user error.

i saw that just last week; except this guy's pc would barely boot. he had tried to install sp2 with somethink like 70 processes. it'd take 10 min to bring up the start menu (after which it would hang), ctrl+alt+delete, etc. it wouldn't even boot in safe mode!. decided on a clean install on another partition-- it wouldn't boot from the cd, and he didn't have a floppy.Originally Posted by Chewy

As windows xp matures you are gonna see more and more of this,
what got slipstreaming and administrative install points started was W2k.
After 2 or 3 service packs and a few years in service the OS would start getting corrupt, system admin/techs and general users would pull out their original cd's and try to do a repair disk(booting to cd), after the repair, a lot of workstations wouldn't even boot. Microsoft/OEM's should supply all
XP users a cd with sp2 integrated, instead they just gave us the tools and directions to do it ourselves. It's about as hard as using the wizard.Comment
