    Windows XP Corporate?

I have heard rumors of a supposed "Corporate" edition of XP. Some people I have talked to via IM have said that they have corporate edition. I thought that Corporate was just a bootleg version. What exactly is it?

I did google it, and got mixed results. And the people who said they have it are kinda unreliable, they are just like "it's real because I use it".

well either these guys are admins (which i doubt, cause those guys usually dont brag about using corp.eds) or they are illegally using a version they shouldnt normally use

i dont want to close this thread so lets leave it like that

I use XP corporate at work (I work at a CORPORATion )... it's mainly just easier to keep the licensing issues to a minimum. There are tons of licensing issues at work because it is hard to keep track of who gets what and how many we have, etc... XP Corporate doesn't use a key nor activation, but they have a volume licensing cost, which is cheaper per copy, but it's still a ton of money.

OK, that's what I was thinking. So basically, if individuals are using it, it's bootleg, but for corportaions like the company my dad works for, it would be legal?

And, what does it say on the startup screen... does it say "Windows XP Corporate" like mine says "Windows XP Professional"?

              --EDIT--

it's the same as XP Professional, except for the licensing aspect.
Generally (not always) anybody with corporate, or refers to corporate, they are talking about the bootleg (I'm sure anybody can easily find out for themselves). The reason it is such a widely known bootleg is because of the lack of registration/activation/etc... Personally, I don't use this because it is, obviously, wrong in many ways. Instead, I use linux. It's free and all the software I need for it is free.

Alright, thanks for clearing that up. We probably have Corporate at school then, it just says Pro.

You actually cant make out the difference, since the Volume license gives you a single key to use in all of them as compared to activation required by an individual user.

Therefore even if an individual will be using a volume license, you cant make out.
