Ya'll have to remember, these system guys install software and tell people how to format their paragraphs. I'm not sure they would know as much as you guys do. That's why even though the data is supposed to be stored in the network, the data doesn't always make it from one hotel to the next. Especially when its a different brand name - even if its the same company!

          Something completely random...
I was reading PC Magazine, and came across a section about a tool called Mozy Backup. I tried it, and it has an option to backup Outlook Express address book and messages. Easy as cake

Thanks everyone. I think with a hubby like mine, I'm going to have to go with the external memory. But I'm also going to back up both my PCs. We are on the move again!

@ drf - thanks, mozy.com was the perfect solution. I was able to copy all files. They give you 2GB for free and 30GB for $4.95 p/m. Had to go with the 30GB b/c of all the files. A lot cheaper than an external drive, 40 or so cds, or a new PC!

down the road network your pc's, have 2 hard drives in your desktop, and backup accross the network

most broadband access points have capability for this

Is installing a hard drive as easy as installing a dvd burner? I would love to have the memory, but I don't want to go out and spend the money if I have to have someone do it for me.

It's a little bit more work but still easy. You will need to check to see if you have a spare IDE socket on the IDE cable. A new HDD will need initialising and formatting first before the computer puts it in my computer. A pre-formatted blank HDD or one with files already on it will show up straight away.

If you don't have the spare IDE. Then a USB or Firewire HDD will also do the same. It also has to be formatted in the same way. I have put pold HDD's in enclosures and share them on different computers.

Okay, new question. Now I have downloaded all hubby's files from mozy to my PC. Mozy has zipped all the files and they are in my WinZip folder. I have an external hard drive and want to put all the files in that.

My problem is that there are over 2000 files and I don't want to drag each one (one at a time) into the external hard drive, it would take forever. Is there a way I can "select all" and then "copy" all the files in one shot?

Volfann, it's not like Word. You go into "actions" and click "select all". But then it doesn't have a "cut", "copy" or "paste". So then what?

I got it, I did it the unconventional way. Went into Explore and dragged the whole file zipped into the external drive. Hubby can unzip himself!
