I would like to make my PC faster, but I gotta clear my desktop off... the guys at my dad's office said that the more items on your desktop, the slower it runs.

that's wrong-

items on your desktop

-it's items starting at bootup, all that stuff in your log, items down next to the clock and speaker icon, and worse is when they cause conflicts with each other and windows

I only have 4 icons by clock - volume, network, ink manager (I will hide that), and on occasion MSN messenger.

I don't have that much at startup I think, I know I have McAfee and whatnot.

when I call up shrink to do some work, that 99% idle becomes shrink's

Sorry to open a dead subject, but I want to streamline my computer too. I take orders for infomercials and basically every call I get has a CC# and all the customer's info. I use Norton and AdAware religiously.

I want to get rid of all the stuff that doesn't need to be running - just like Chewy"s. I did a hijack scan, and am running the windows one right now.

when I got to system config, I saw a lot of thing that could be removed, but these are the ones I wasn't sure of...
