With nowdays 100/1000 LAN cards speed shouldn't be a problem.
I moved about 10 GB of files on my brother's HDD when I formatted my computer, to avoid to burn too many discs.Comment

If you can't get the LAN and shares going. Hook up your daughters HDD in your PC as a slave or as master on another IDE channel and xfer the files that way. This beats burning a buncha DVD's also. Not registered Go here and click register to join the Digital Digest Forums

Setting up a workgroup will do the trick but you'll still transfer the files through the router and not at IDE speeds.
Go to a PC store a get a crossover cable and "hard wire" them together for the transfer.
If you don't wanna do that, as jm says, pop her HD in your PC on a spare IDE channel, let windoze recognise it and just drag and drop her files over.

I am sorry I did not post back sooner but been really busy. I want to thank everybody for their help & assistance. I probably ended up creating 3 networks (LOL). When somebody tells you your 2-way firewall might interfere, listen. The job is done through LAN. I never really timed how fast it transfers but it seems to be pretty fast. Once again thank you for helping myself & my daughter out.
