What's a good backup program for your data?

I want to backup my data to an image file for burning with ImgBurn. Anybody know a good prog that can have ISO image as its output? I tried Ner0 Backitup but even though the help file says you can backup to the Image Recorder, it doesn't offer this option (What else is new, eh? Ner0 doesn't work!!)

Naturally, the recommended prog needs to save what I want as jobs to execute at intervals of my choosing and be able to easily vary the files and folders I want to backup.

Thanks for the idea TR but I don't think that will do the trick. AFAIK, ITC works only on a single folder with DVD files in it, not selected data files and folders.

i've had no problems with ner0's images-- run burning rom, recorder-->choose recorder, select image recorder and create data dvd as 'usual'

I just figured out how to get the target as image recorder! You gotta enable it in BackItUp's preferences!

EDIT: It does not wanna write the image for some reason. Just sits there after temp files check is complete. Also, you gotta name the image each session - that's not automation. Aaaarrrgggh. Ner00000000000000000000000000000000

@anon - I can get it to write an image from a normal Burning Rom session by selecting the files and folders. But if I come back in a week, those files and folders have changed but the saved project (NRI file) doesn't recognise that and burn updated files. It's a bloody nightmare. Doing it this way, I gotta drag and drop the folders/files I want each week and then backup to the image recorder. There MUST be an easier way.

Can anyone tell me if they can get Backitup to actually write an image?

If I remember correctly, you can try it out before you buy it. Works for me, files, folders, or entire hard drive with plenty of option to create the image backup as you like. Backup to X amount of DVD as needed. Not freeware but will save you a ton of time if you loose your hard drive. $49. USA dollars

Well, I have tried acronis and while it loks good, it makes files of type tib, which appear to be its own proprietary backup container. Sadly, ImgBurn won't burn it.

I can't get Ner0 BackitUp to start (except doing a direct burn to disk). NBR is fine but I have to define the job each time.

Windows Backup also has proprietiary format.

Bugger the data!!! If it gets lost, so be it!

Yes, this is the problem I had when I first set up Acronis, if the Acronis image file (tib) IS NOT proprietary, which I also think it is, then you might want to get hold of Lighting UK, I sent him this problem a few months ago and he expressed an interest in future updates of Imgburn to try and burn this type of image from Acronis, if possible, and NOT proprietary.
