OK this is what's in my computer Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz Dells ram is high so what if I just get rid of what's in there and get the pqi POWER Series to replce it what's you opinion on this brand it looks like it has good ratings or maybe this one Patriot
(So CAS means Column Address Strobe right?) It refers to the number of cycles that need to occur between sending the first part of the address to the memory chip and then sending the second part. It's measured in clock cycles. I wasn't sure what cas was so I looked it up I am learning slowly but surely
there are more than 10 different parts to that cas stuff, key point is the
"wait states", wait is a dirty four letter word with computing, we want fast,
faster and fastest. My ddr1 500 cas 2.5 is way faster than ddr2 533 cas 4.
I would take a gig of fast ram anyday over 2 gigs of slow ram, the times will be few and far between when you will ever use that extra gig. Since I don't game and don't have a dual core, the optimal setup for me is 512 megs of fastest ram.
If you wouldn't mind when I get my computer I will post specs with EVEREST and let you have look maybe you could give some tips They said it should be here no later then June 7th
