Windoze update NOT installing??

I have this update not being installed on my computer....Any ideas on how to install or delete it.. I try to install and it fails. The next time I turn my computer on, the download tries to reinstall and fails again.

Update for Windows XP (KB913670)
Australia changed the regularly scheduled end of Daylight Saving Time (DST) in five states due to the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Microsoft issued an update to adjust those settings. This update will return your computer to the correct DST settings for those time zones by removing the previous update. After you run this item, you may have to restart your computer.

I have had sorta the same thing happen but not exactly. Go back to windows update and try to download it again. I had to do this a few times on a coupla updates until they finally took. In the update site your history will show failed...mine did. Good Luck

I just did a search at microsoft for that KB#...no luck...could be too new but where did ya get it? See pic below

block the sucker. i have "notify me but don't automatically download or install them" in AU settings. next time it comes up just de-select it and select no further reminders - last you'll hear of it.

I had 2 high priority updates when I went to Windows update manually tonight. Clicked on the icon in the system tray because Windows update downloaded & it popped up. Got the same message, hit close & the windows manual update installed both.

That page is currently down at Micro$oft right now. I will try again tomorrow.

Just a M$ curse I guess.

EDIT @ Soup: Ist update installed and demanded rebooting. This was the 2nd.

And then ticked this box.



Who cares what time it is in AU?

I think this was an uninstaller for a previous update. CCleaner had probably removed (the previous update) a month ago when this option was introduced.

Just a guess, but you might want to check this.

In the CC Cleaner software you have loaded on your computer. Be sure to UNCHECK this option.

I hope they hurry up and get sp3 out stable so I can stay away from windoze
update for a while. I don't trust all this automatic stuff at all. The way they describe the updates you can't understand them.

In the CC Cleaner software you have loaded on your computer. Be sure to UNCHECK this option.

It only removes the uninstallers not the hotfix, Good to regain space if you don't want to remove the hotfix.
