M$ Windoze XP Activation WAP backup?

my dell reinstall disk of xp pro dont need tobe activated if i instal it on my dell machine. any other machine and activation comes up. maybe its checking bios.

It will work on any Dell PC, I used my Dell XP Install CD on my moms Dell computer.

I know this is somewhat of an old post, I'm just playing catch-up. Dell distributes an OEM version of M$ Windows XP that does check the BIOS ID. If it passes then no activation is needed.

The M$ distribution center shipped me my replacement key and a new CD that arrived a couple of days ago. It's the same holographic CD but has dark black print stamped on it "NOT FOR RESALE" BLAH BLAH BLAH and so forth. I'm just glad to get a new key!
