Alright, I installed the Omega drivers.

It appears to be a slight bit better... not perfect still.

Another thing, every DivX AVI I open pops up a DivX tray icon... and it shows the DivX logo, I know this can be turned off but must I decode DivX with the real thing or should I have some other thing decode it?

I think my MPEG-2 codecs are bad too, if I try to play an SVCD MPG file in Windows Media Player it appears messed up, I will take a screenshot in a minute.

That music video is SVCD MPEG-2, plays fine on VLC or MPC but in Windows Media Player it does that. Any MPEG-2 does that.

So I am thinking there's something wrong with my MPEG2 codec.

so do the DVD's/avi's etc look fine in VLC?

                use ffdshow to decode mpeg4

In VLC they look fine, but any sort of MPEG 2 file looks like crap in Windows Media Player (see my screenshot).

What might the problem be there?
I noticed that for DivX AVIs, in VLC it decodes it internally, but in WMP, the DivX taskbar icon shows up, hence DivX is decoding. Why is this?

then the drivers issue is solved, now onto the codecs.

like i said, use ffdshow for mpeg4, based on same code, will then play just as well in wmp.

as for mpeg2, recommend dscaler5 or install intervideo/windvd. or better yet, don't bother with wmp at all

I know, but WMP is my default for .MPG files so I don't want to HAVE to use VLC.

Another question, can I make VLC automatically de-interlace so I don't get that motion blur?

that can be changed with right-click, open with...

there's a deinterlacing function in there somewhere, look around. personally i prefer mpc

I know but you have to do it each time (deinterlacing).
I like MPC too, but I hate that when you double click it pauses and unpauses and fullscreens it, I like VLC where it just makes it fullscreen.

see deinterlacing section in VLC preferences, don't think it needs to be enabled each time

in mpc click options-->keys, pretty much all functions can be mapped to keys or key combinations

I know but I like double clicking.

And about WMP, here's the thing.

I like WMP's interface and stuff, so I use it unless it doesn't work. Which is why I use VLC for AVIs, because it uses overlay which is useful for large bitrates.
