What Software Firewall Do You Use?

I personally have never used one. Didn't think I needed one although, when I got my Dell PC in it had McAfee personal firewall. I liked how it asked me if a certain program could have access to the internet etc.

I hate McAfee products so I am not keeping it (its only a trial version anyway).

    What do you all use?

Had Norton before ZoneAlarms - but it always created problems when it was time for updates.

must be all jm's think a router is nice for security and sharing the juice and networking too. ZoneAlarm works well putting the other puters in the Trusted Zone

I use ZoneAlarm Secuirity Suite. I 'm satisfied from the secuirity that provides but sometimes it creates me problems. I have heard many things about outpost and I plan to download it and test it

The 2nd comeback, decided to just ignore the n**b mods of this site (not all of course ) (you know who you are and I wish you 'll burn in hell )

Are you crazy? I highly recommend you to install an anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall right now!!!!!!!

it's all about safe hex and vigilance, the last AV I tested failed miserably with scanning a trojan installer, my last antimalware program got into too many fights with everything else. I have never had a computer work so good for so long.

I use free ZoneAlarm for the most part. It can get "buggy" sometimes; will hang or crash - altho that may just be a windows thing, since it (windoze) don't like to play nice sometimes...

                          ZoneAlarm
also sometimes is a pain, 'cause in the free version it will frequently ask if you want to allow a pgm access,

& you have no idea what the pgm. is, the name makes no sense, & there is no associated help in the free version...

that being said, I would say I am pleased w/ the overall performance, for the price!

i've tried the major ones, norton, mcafee, zonealarm, etc. prefer this to all of them. support for plugins without being bloated or intrusive, easy to use, easily passed all probes/port scans etc i've tried. commercial, with 30 day trial

one of the best things about it is it's unobtrusive, doesn't try to take over the system (something that i find essential in all apps after trying norton a few years ago). any features/plugins you don't want enabled can be disabled during initial config.
