Need DMA assistance

Hi, i was having trouble ripping a dvd due to it being scratched. i assume this caused my driver to enter PIO Mode since ripping and burning has become incredibly slow and other computer programs are sluggish when the dvd burner is in use. when i checked the DMA using the above sticky, i only found a Primary IDE Channel. i do not have a Secondary IDE Channel. When i look in the Primary IDE Channel, Device 0 says Ultra DMA Mode 2 and Device 1 says PIO Mode under Current Transfer Mode. Is this my DVD burner even though it is under Primary IDE Channel? i dont want to uninstall since im not sure if this is correct. please help. thanks.

Yes, it will be your burner. Do as the FAQ says - see fix your dma in my signature.

thanks. looks like it worked. i was just confused since i didnt notice a secondary driver and thats where the sticky said that 90% of dvd drivers should be. ill burn a few dvds to make sure things are good. thanks again.

Most people put their optical drive on the secondary IDE channel as master, not as a slave to the primary hard drive. You might want to consider changing it.

those were the computers default settings. how do i go about changing it? is there a faq for this too?

You need to change your hardware - move it off one cable and onto another.

Some new computers only have one ide, with hard drives on serial connection.
Both your drives being dma 2 would indicate 2 optical drives connected.
Is that what it says after fixing the pio mode.
