Silly question on my new BENQ

Ok my new BENQ came, its here !! Its here !! Yeh!!

Ok here is my silly little question the last time I bought a burner it came with instuctions and this little cable with a plug that I have pictured here.

OK I knew since I was buying an OEM not to expect anything but the actual burner.

Now I am wondering first what is this cbale or wire with a plug called?
And, are these all the same from burner to burner?
Meaning do I need to buy a new one or can I simply use the one from my old burner?

    Thanks for your help.

    I bought Model DW1650

I could only find the manual for the DW1640 are these the same as far as the manual goes?

thanks Night, do you know what that part is called.
The reason I am wondering so much is I also have 2 other burners ordered for 2 other computers I have one of them doesnt have a burner that I am replaceing with so there isnt going to be this cable / wire thingy I will need to buy the cable and this wire thingy with that plug for one of the ones on the way. Not sure what that is called to buy one though.

I know this may sound insane but I am just learning the building computer stage. I have no clue what a lot of the parts inside this thing are called.

        But looking to learn.

          ide cable(flat ribbon), best with 80 conductors(ultracable)

just make sure the computer is off when you are working on it and you have your tin foil hat on straight

the cable with 4 wires is the power cable, the jumper is on the sets of pins
at the back of the drive, there will be markings that say cs/ma/sl
              the jumper is very small

I assume you are refering to the 4-pin power cable since it's circled in red ? They are the same from burner to burner, comes for the power supply ...

                EDIT/BUMP : Sorry Chewy didn't see you there !!!!

Yes the one I have circled the last time I bought a burner one of those came with it.

So the jumper is the timy plasic piece that you slide over the pins that is there.

to buy one of those for my other computer what do I look up to buy one of those? (the one I have circled)

                  Thanks

Sorry if these questions seem insane I never learned a whole lot pn putting these things together but I no longer date the computer store guy.

This will allow you to split off an existing 4-pin power connector

Ok I am an Idiot . LOL

The little cable I was wondering about before I took this pc apart was not the one in the picture.

There is a tiny little cable that seems to connect to the sound card to the old DVD burner.

                          Audio
                          RGGL

this doesnt seem to be on the new Benq there are no prongs for this cable and it is not written on the casing of the burner.

I called comp USA they said some of the new burners do not need this.

And that is the tinly little cable that came with my old burner it too has 4 prongs on the burner. I got the 2 confused.

I am burning a dvd now pryaing it works great. LOL

I do how ever have a firm ware question though.

Wanting to make sure I have the current firmware on the firmware page it shows BCHC being the new what I have is:

BCFC which isnt listed at all on the firmware page is this upto date? or is that BCHC newer?

                          Thanks too all

So I should keep the firmware that I have then?

Ok burning my first dvd with this new burner, it seems to slow my system down more then the optorite did. I cant wait to see how the burn turns out.
Now that I have the BENQ I should be able to use the nero too to test the quality of the burn now. I couldnt with the optorite.
