          I wonder if the X2 4400 will come down? I feel a bit depressed with these price drops. My 64 3700 back in February cost me £30 more than the new price for the X2 4200.

          I suppose there isn't difference between the X2 4200 and 4400 to worry about.

              These are so high $$$, they have to give BIG FREE incentives CLICK HERE

              I got an itchy finger on this one CLICK HERE AMD + FREE Mobo $99

              @Chewy

              Which mobo would you pick ? Need to upgrade a PIII 500, think I can get away with 350w PS, case is 5+ yrs old.

              Also whats the diff between the 754 and the 939 ? Or should I just keep waiting for the Dual Core to come down as it did in UK ? Don't need to upgrade, I was just looking to move two of the SATA's to a diff box ..... dat's all !!!

                  From what I have seen in the UK. The 754 are the AMD Semprons and AMD 64 up to 3200 (it maybe 3000). Anything higher requires at least a socket 939. I went for a 939 board so I can get a X2 chip later on. The new ones are AM2 which are also requires DDR2 memory.

                  MY 64 3700 is now just £95.

                    Final List (sorrry for being so dense this morning) the last two columns seem to have the same prices ..... I didn't check, but are we close to the 7/24 prices regarding the X2 (think dat's what I will hold out for, cuz of the home video stuff I do)......

                    @nwg ... THX for the info on the 754 and 939, I knew of the memory being diff ... one of the reasons for holding out for the X2

                    @Chewy with regards to the PIII 500, it's almost like junk I use it mainly as a backup and for my 6yr old son .... except now the games (Zoo Tycoon 2) and interactive childrens stuff my wife gets at the library don't run on it too slow. BTW: I don't play games either on the AlienX box, cheapo vidcard as well ......

                      I'm sticking with what I've got until the Quad 4 chips are out and reasonably priced. That will probably be 2008.

                          i will keep myself from upgrading till both intel's & amd's quad core are released and a winner emerges. then i'll wait for price cuts, then buy. well, that's the plan anyway-- i might have a core 2 duo soon
