    Hi Chewey,

I don't understand ... why would I need a "SATA" ... the USB is fast enough ... isn't it. Transfer 10 movies in about 10 minutes.

Also, $55 fo rthe external drive with a fan ... I am using an aluminum eclosure with no fan to house my 300GB drive. I am shooting myslef in the leg if I did not buy a case with the fan? For 30 minutes transfers the HD did not seem to have gotten too hot ... just pleasantly "warm".

May be I am missing something so, please tell me.

Thanks & good night for now ... will read your posts tomorrow.

      usb2 12MB/s

      serial ~45MB/s

      16x dvd rip/read/burn 22MB/s

numbers tell it all, you are missing something

people are always buffering their external drives to internal to keep up with optical drives,
the usb interface is a resource hog, the sata is not.

I looked in my crystal ball and the future will bring external serial dvd burners, laptops with e-serial conectors?
