    Not again

OK, stupid mistake I know but I downloaded a certain program off of a bad website and it ended up <censored> up my computer.

So, I don't want to have to reformat if it's not necssary.

I have installed Ad-Aware, Spybot, Spyware Doctor, Spy Sweeper, Ewido, reinstalled McAfee as apparently it got corrupted, and I will be installing AVG.

However, after running each of these in Safe Mode (with networking so I could download the updates) when I started I got a couple more McAfee warnings, and a possible IE hijack in which it gave me a warning that I had spyware and had to download software. I ALT-F4'ed it, but want to be absolutely sure the junk is gone.

So, what do you guys reccomend, any more programs I should install, or more procedures I should use? My computer is fine in "safe mode with networking" but I can't live on safe mode.

    Yeah it's definately still there.

A process called wowexec.exe keeps hogging CPU (dunno what it is)
Also, I got another OIN popup.

Gonna try and find a way to remove these OIN cookies/sites.

well first off all these programs your downloading probably have more junk in them than the virus.the only one i recommend is avg.has it hijacked you home page?do a search on removal methods of this particular virus ,usually works for me..........

Apparently now I can't even connect to the LAN.

I am using my mom's PC trying to fix the problem but it keeps saying "cannot connect to 'linksys' network."

It was working fine, then I had to do a force-reset because Windows froze. When it booted again it wouldn't connect.

Still won't. Any idea why? I repaired it endless times, used a different USB port, reinstalled the network adapter. It just won't connect while the other PCs connect fine.

Google is your friend, saw that already.

Dunno what was up with the LAN, I just turned the WEP on and then off again, that helped strangely enough.

I will try that Trend Micro thingy.

Would a system restore be out of the question here? Roll it back a couple of days to before you downloaded the bad program.

                should be good to go...

                Good Luck!
                regards, katz

                  Tried it, nothing.

System Restore keeps saying "no changes were made" for every single frickin restore point.

Also, this pisses me off... every time I clear my Temporary Internet Files and boot in normal mode, I get a McAfee warning for two files, one can always be deleted and one can always not be touched.

Not sure why the heck this happens... but must fix it before I consider this problem solved.

All I have to deal with now is "OIN" and I will search for fixes on that.
