RealPlayer keeps taking over my audio files!!!

Well, I've been fighting this one for long enough now; Searched all over & can't find a solution... The latest version of RealPlayer (free) keeps "re-setting" itself as the default player for all my audio files.

I have unchecked all the appropiate settings in the options/preferences, tried recapturing the file formats back with Windows Media Player, & still no luck. After I do all the resetting, the next file I click on will open up with - you guessed it, RealPlayer!

I would dump the player altogether, but I need to use it for a weekly radio show that I record off the 'net.

Anyone have any luck with getting this problem worked out?

    regards, katz

Download Real Alternative 2.0.2 : Real Alternative is enabling you to play RealMedia files without installing RealPlayer or RealOne Player

A few years ago I had three audio players loaded on this computer and I had a similar problem. Realplayer, windows audio player, and Musicmatch Plus, what worked for me was to choose what player you wanted for the default player, in my case Musicmatch Plus and set or check ALL the audio types MP3, wave, and the other audio players UNCHECK or unset ALL audio types, then the default audio player was Musicmatch Plus, ever after rebooting.

          Thanks for the link, chewy!

Had a chance to install the program yesterday, & it works great! Nothing I hate more than a program that hi-jacks your personal settings/files/etc. It's nice to have alternatives to the "standard" intrusive programs that we seem to be forced to use so often...

          cheers, katz
