    DMA Mode

I have added a second hard drive and cannot get DMA enabeled on that drive. I have uninstalled the Primary IDE Channel and rebooted and Device 1 shows PIO Mode.

This is a Dell computer. I had both drives on Cable Select and changed to Master and Slave and that didn't help. Do I need to replace the cable?

I am attaching a Nero Info Tool log.

check your bios settings, even if you had a cable select specific cable it should have worked with the drives so jumpered, the master goes at the end of the cable, is it an 80 conductor one?

check all jumper settings carefully, & don't discount the fact that some hdd configurations (on the same cable) simply don't work in conjuction.
you may need to use your newer drive as master & the other as a slave (if you want them both on the primary), or use the 2ndry ide.

I checked setup, Drive Configuration and primary slave was set to none. I changed that to Auto and I have DMA now. Thank you all for your help.
