    Filters for case fans

I have 4 case fans in my PC (2 inlet, 2 outlet). Is it possible to get some kind of filter to add to the fan, to help prevent excess dust being dragged into the case? Ive tried the metal mesh one's, but they dont make any difference. Ive tried putting a tissue over the fan, but it seems to cut down on airlfow and look very unsightly.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Solomon, Try buying some replacement hepa filter material ment for vaccuums, simply cut the filter to fit and there you go. This shouldn't slow down the air flow that much but will remove 99% of any dust and crap in the air before it hits the inside of your case. Just a idea mate.
    Oils well thats ends well.

I bought some precut case fan filter media on clearance at Wal-Mart a year or so ago, but I don't still have the packaging, so IDK what brand it was, and obviously, they don't sell it any more. Have you searched the net?

When this stuff runs out, I've thought about using the hi-performance home A/C filter media that I buy from a local supplier named "QL-2". It's waxed media (with anti-bacterial agents) so dust really sticks to it, and it comes in a wide variety of grades for almost any application.

I have 4 filtered case fans blowing in, & the 2 PS fans blowing out, so it's much like a Russian tank: "overpressure filtration", which means that so much clean air is leaking out that no dirty air can come in.

I have used Home A/C filter material; You can purchase it from a hardware store & cut it to size; I then use sticky back velcro to affix it in front of the fan(s). Other users may have better ideas, but this has worked for me so far
