Unable to view movie files on new lcd screen

hello all,

I've recently bought a new lcd tv/monitor and have connected up my laptop via the vga 15-pin input on the tv. I'm getting a perfect picture of the laptops output except when I play movie files. While the movie is playing fine on the laptop screen, the same window opens on the lcd tv but only shows a black interior with no picture. I've tried various players to test the software and they're all the same.

Can someone please give me some advice on how to solve this or if anyone's had a similar experience.

it's usually in the settings for output, try dragging and dropping the display of the movie onto the other screen

Hi. Thanks for the advice. You'll have to excuse me though as I'm a bit of a novice at the whole display control panel thing! It's currently set up so that my LCD tv shows the primary screen '1' at the same time as the laptop screen ie. everything that shows on the laptop is identical on the lcd tv. How do I click and drag onto the lcd tv?

use media player classic

overlay mixer has several annoying limitations, set your player to output VMR9 or haali's renderer. you'll need a dx9 comaptible graphics card, and pixel shader 2.0 support for the latter.

are you sure? you've got to have a 2 in there somewhere
