    Which Internet Security to buy??

I currently using Norton's Internet Security. It will expire in 3 weeks.

I want to replace it as it was useless in my last attack in August.

    Any suggestions anybody??

And does the software work??? Has any virus/worm gotten by your protection??

Is it set and forget or do you have to update it manually.

I did like Ewido but it has since been bought by AVG. Does anyone here use AVG with the automatic updates??

My beast just had it's first birthday, not counting the first install which crashed within a week,(damn via southbridge pci/sata lock) no system restore, no anti virus, windows default protections, no anti spyware programs, no anti-trojans. This has been the best running computer I have ever used. Course I cheated for some months, I wouldn't put it on the internet, dedicated video machine.

For antivirus, I have used AVG in the past; I am currently using Avast, & I like it; free, daily updates, easy to use & minimal intrusion. As for firewall, I use Zonealarm, pretty much like everyone else does. Again, minimal intrusions from it, its' free and seems to do the job fairly well.

No security is robust enough to stand against all attacks/viruses, but then again, I feel it depends largely what your surfing habits are; IMHO, if you are "clean", & stay away from xxx, p2p, etc., you're going to be fairly safe.

My brother uses that, but I don't like it. Seems like it pops up at random times when you are doing something else, & it wants to download updates then. You can configure it to download at a selected time, but I always like to do all my updating manually.

      regards, katz

true. don't have any anti-virus software, spyware/adware etc software installed at all, and my PC is on and online almost 24/7. just a router and a software firewall. the firewall has most security settings switched off/low, i only really have it for controlling network access for applications

or you could start running linux

When I first installed Avast, it found a virus that Norton didn`t have a clue. Sometimes from the internet avast stopped some trojans , worms before they download. It has automatic updates which are almost daily but very short. Some others I tried the updates are some Mbs or they can`t be downloaded at all and they are annoying. Avast is free and doesn`t give you much trouble. I don`t know about the delay in the function of the computer. Of course, I have seen advertisements of Nod32 that have some tests etc and Nod32 is the top and all others almost zero.
Perhaps try Avast that is free and if you are not satisfied, pay for Nod32.

You could take a look at SystemSuite, I currently use SystemSuite 5 so I don't know what 6 is like & they have just released 7. BTW what I like most about it, is the 2-way Net Defense Firewall.

                    Hi Gary,

Just wanted to mention; if you run any type of "keylogger", or filtering software such as Cyberpatrol, avast will probably "flag" it as a virus. I believe Norton does too. At least I know it is doing the job by "weeding" thru all files thoroughly!

Since I know this, I can just disregard the warning for these.

Just thought you might like to know!

                    regards, katz

I used Norton for a long time. Last year I had to replace a hard drive because Norton let something slip through. I now use Avast and haven't had any problems.

I hope you didn't throw it away, even a rare boot sector virus is cleanable
