    I just learned a lesson

I just flashed my Sony-810A to a Benq1640 and now my bundled Nero software wont recognize the Benq because it came with the two Sony's, anybody know a way around this?

don't try to backflash yet? it's tricky

you could just burn cd's with the sony and burn dvd with the benq with imgburn

I just got those two new Samsung SH-182M's and they came with 6.6.0.19d software with lightscribe.
I was about to install that when this happened, I suppose that would really be a mess...@#$%$#@ Nero would go blind

            Uufta,
What version of nero are you using.
I am somewhat surprised you are having this problem, as a Nero 6 OEM version i got with A Sony burner, works with non Sony burners.
I presume you tried reinstalling nero, just to be sure.

              Hi Jamo
6.6.0.14 updated it today to 6.6.0.18 and still got the warning in post#1, I have a mail into Nero support
Asking them what will happen if I install the 6.6.0.19d Nero that came with my Samsung external.
I read everything I could find on this flashing business, and never seen any mention of the OEM software going belly-up if you do. Of course cdfreakes is a vast information source, probably there somewhere

                  I never experienced that, but I have had older version Software (Roxio, for example) that would not support a newer drive. Roxio came bundled with a (junk) BTC drive that I purchased a few years ago;

When I got my new Benq's, (2 1650's/ 2 1655's) Roxio wouldn't see the drives at all. Just as well, I was getting bored with that software anyway!

I dont use Nero at all for burning unless it is nero speed but you can get free version of this, if you use nero vision express I believe they are still work from drive A>B etc..

The OEM versions that come with the drives are limited use, mine did that and only let me use Samsung drives. It also didn't let me use Nero Wave Editor, etc.

So I just payed $80 and got a key for it, but of course I would have preferred a free way

Yes, they wrote back (be still my heart!) anyway, they asked for the Samsungs serial number to see if that software bundled with them can see other drives...I am not holding out much hope, but somehow I will survive
Nero 6.6.0.19d version with Lightscribe, I have read many accounts of Nero's Lightscribe being Crappy at best.

www.lightscribe.com The free "Surething" lightscribe program is supposed to be much better and the price is right, for anybody interested.

                              1. I have an OEM version of Nero that does not contain all features of Nero 6. What do I do?

As you purchased Nero with a recorder, you have an OEM version that can only be used with that single recorder. OEM versions are limited versions, which do not contain all features. The manufacturer of the recorder decides about the features which will be implemented in the Nero OEM version. That means your version of Nero does not include all features of the full (=retail) version.

If you would like to upgrade to a full version, you need to order an upgrade serial number or upgrade CD. This serial number turns your OEM version into the latest Nero 6 retail release. It also enables you to use up to 4 recorders at the same time. Please visit our online shop for information and pricing.

                              Important note
You have to key in your old Nero serial number.
If you don't have it anymore, please contact us again and tell us how you purchased your previous version of Nero.
