    Moving Files & Folders

Every time I want to move files and folders, I get this message appearing.

Why do I keep getting this when I move files and folders and does it corrupt anything even though it claims it doesn't?

As you can see, I use Roxio. I use Roxio because I had problems with Nero and the Nero Player was a pain.

    Many thanks.

    Darren.

I have never seen that happen. Then again I dont have Roxio on my pc.

Roxio is known to create nothing but problems and conflicks with other programs though. I personally would get rid of the roxio.

Just my thoughts on that one.

doesn't seem to like fixvts edits &/or possibly other type of edits of the simular kind.
why not simply copy the files (not move), test & see if they're ok. you can also quickly check for any changes by comparing the file sizes after you copy them.
as the error states "that "might" be lost".

      hope that helps

I haven't had any problems with Roxio. I haven't noticed any problems with anything else.

        Many thanks.

I think they were in Copy mode. Sometimes I get Copy, sometimes I get Move. I'm not sure what causes the Move mode. I just get one of the two out of the blue without realised what I used to get whatever one.

          Many thanks.

          Darren.

if the files get altered during copy/move, then perhaps you can try to lock the file/s by making it "read only" prior to moving them ? return the files back to normal/usual status after the copy/move & test.

I've seen that option before but I never thought of using it for this method. Well, I haven't used that option at all. Many thanks for that tip.

I checked the folder out with another copy and the disk size is the same so it's OK.

By the way, something that I don't understand. When I highlighted a folder and left my mouse arrow on it, it read 126KBs and when I went inside the folder it read 117KBs. How come it's smaller when I go in? I know this might sound like a pointless question but I find it interesting.

              Many thanks.

              Darren.

Yes Nero is finicky but it is for a reason. Nero 6 likes the latest firmware, lots of RAM, etc.,etc., But I do get great burns with it. BUT I am now using ImgBurn because it is being constantly improved.

IMHO, Nero player is probably the hardest player to use. I use Media Player Classic (MPC). It is one of the closest players to an actual DVD player there is. I use MPC to test my rips and shrinks before burning. This saves me a lot of blank discs as I then know the disc's authouring is correct. You can get MPC here.

make sure any roxio component is not running, see the stickies in general computing, unless you get control of your computer you might as well as give this kind of stuff up.

did you ever get more ram? if not learn to be a power user
