I can run lean and mean without alot of tweaking cause I don't install many programs, my days of testing experimenting are long gone.

I feel the same way; problem is, with "little ones" using the pc, lots of games & other "unnecessary" stuff seems to get installed.

Also, I noticed under "processes" there are (5) duplicate entries of "svchost". I guess that's not good.

And I no longer use AVG, (uninstalled) but it is running in services. It is in the registry & I cannot seem to get rid of it.

You could take a look at AutoRuns (it's free) for startup etc.
Thanks soup, I will look into that.

Might want to take another look at svchost.exe.

      http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314056.

      http://www.liutilities.com/products/...brary/svchost/.

      http://windowsxp.mvps.org/svchost.htm.
