Wife downloaded this (Golden Antivirus) the other day . It allowed 9 trojan/adware programs in. I tried everything but could not remove them. AdawareSe could not touch it. I found this program and it wiped it out if 15 seconds!!! So far in the last 24 Hours nothing has showed up. If anyone could offer their opinion on it it would be helpful. Wow, toomanycats; rather you than me! Keep us posted as to if the system is clean & remains stable. If so, that is a good program to keep in our arsenal.

I would download Trojan Hunter and rescan in a couple of days time. You get 30 days free the first time you use Trojan Hunter. I would also download and use rootkit revealer in safe mode. This will also find hidden root viruses.

@katzdvd: System has been stable so far. Norton has't reported anything. Symantec says this programs "GoldenAntivirus" must be installed manually so it was something that was downloaded and run without my knowledge. Norton couldn't remove it but it did block it's outgoing communications though some of the POP-UPS were quite offensive (too my wife, anyway!!). System is back to normal after several boots (just to see if anything was hiding) and a lot of surfing. I am surprised that AdawareSE couldn't remove it though it said it did. Something was left behind. I even tried AdawareSE in SafeMode to no avail. VirusBurst was part of it too.

Trojan Hunter found two registry entries. Norton works good but if you install a program that has a trojan in it then Norton sucks. First time in 3 years I was infected, but I must admit that this was installed "unbeknownst". Norton did block the communications but it (Norton) is lacking.

I don't know if it is any good or not, but what about the anti-virus that comes from Microsoft every second Tuesday of the month, the one that comes with all the Tuesday updates. This is the anti-virus from Microsoft that installs itself on your computer, checks for virus, then immediately un-installs itself.


The best way for me to get virus, is to send a nasty letter to the internet service provider, who's client is sending me spam. I normally tell the internet provider something like " Internet Provider, your should be taking legal action against your client for sending spam over the internet"

Its like clockwork, the next week I find approximately 8-10 virus in my virus vault. So I must be rattling somebody's cage.

@chewy, you're too dang smart for your own good. Have you been to those sites too? I thought I saw Wookie signs. I read a post of yours and downloaded AVG and it found 10 more things. I am going to do this for a couple of more days then if all is not well, I am going to tear the machine down and go to a new OS (XP 64) and start all over again. I now have the reason to do it so what the heck
