Memory Stick Cards

I am going to England with my high school's band in December, and wanted to buy a huge memory card so I can be sure to take as many pictures as needed.

I was thinking 4GB, the biggest they have, would be good. Anyone know of any good deals on one? My 512MB card only holds like 6 mins of video and they said there's gonna be fireworks on new year's eve, I can't get all that in 6 mins!!

If anyone is selling a Memory Stick Pro card let me know, or can you find one on ebay for under $100?



PS - anyone here who lives in England, I would greatly appreciate it if you could tape the New Year's Day parade (the band is marching in it) and send me an AVI of it (maybe encode it so it's not over 5GB )

sure about that? that's over 11 mbps

Yes. On highest quality mode. But the normal quality is only 15fps, that makes stuff look like a slideshow in fast forward

Could you do with smaller sizes?? IE 4X1GB instead of 4GB. The 4s are still very expensive as they are not very old yet.

EDIT: Ask Santa Claus to bring you a DVD movie camera for Christmas with a bunch of RWs!!

LOL, my parents got enough to buy me as it is.

4x1GB might work, but can you find a 1GB for less than $25? If a 4GB is $100, that's what it equates to.

Actually what might make sense is 2x2GB, as due to FAT limitations, videos can only be 2GB anyway, so 4GB would let me make 2 huge videos.

Ultimately that's more cards to worry about losing, but I have a camera case, I can stash them there... maybe use some masking tape and label them 1, 2, 3, etc so I don't confuse them

My dad ordered one of those for me.

2GB for less than $60!!! That's an insane price, I payed $40 for my 512MB card on eBay, and even that was cheap (list price was like $70 at the time for 512 cards)

Good for me, I bought the Sony and not SanDisk. I actually told my dad NOT to get SanDisk on Buy.com, as I heard they stop working in a few months in Sony cameras.

And don't worry, the one I bought on eBay I have had for almost a year, and it's worked fine (oh yeah and I use Memory Stick, not Compact Flash)

@blutach, hope your son has fun on his tour thing, I am sure excited to get to be going to England. We leave on December 28th, so I don't have much of a Christmas vacation, but it's better than nothing

And when you mean "send" you mean like upload an AVI somewhere, right? LOL

(Actually, it would be nice to get an ISO of it, but uploading 4GB ISOs can be hard for some people )
