Problem - Connecting external DVD to XP with USB

Just bought a CompUSA external Double Layer DVD+/-RW Drive with LightScribe. Connected it to my HP laptop with XP Home ver 5.1 Serv Pack 2 through one of the USB ports and the nothing happens. The drive is powered up and then connected, same result. No hardware wizard, or anything. Tried it on another laptop which is about 6 months old same result.

I tried to search the topic on this board without success, so any help would be appreciated.

BTW the local CompUSA is clueless . . . .

    Thanks in advance.
