Can't find the right video driver

I reformatted the hard drive on my computer and installed windows xp professional and now I can't get any of my games to work, not even something as simple as Tiger Woods Golf 1999 edition.
I installed gateway updateexec and it down loaded I suppose what finals it needed but still none of my games fire up.
My video card is an amd athlon 60, radeon ati, something or other.
Is there any way I can find the correct drivers, rather than a hit and miss.
All my serial numbers have been worn off the laptop.

I had a friend do a search of the system with a program he had and it downloaded what it though it needed and even that didn't work

In the end will I have to take my video card out to see what I need or is there a software that can search and find the right stuff,
    h
    I;m not very computer literate.

I am not sure about Gateway but I know when you buy a Dell PC it includes a resource CD to reinstall all of your drivers after you reinstall windows.Do you have anything like that around?Or you could download Everest it will tell you what type of video card you have and if I remember right it will even provide a link to the download

Check in dev. manager to confirm which card you have. If it is an ATI, you may want to check here for drivers; http://www.omegadrivers.net/ In my experience, they have been much better/more stable & reliable than anything ATI provides.
