PC running slow after trying to rip Talladega Nights

Hi,

My dads computer crashed on him & is running very slow now, b/c of this DVD, I do not know what to tell him about how to fix it, Anyone want to help us, please post back.

Thank you for the welcome, I think he did a system restore but, it froze at the end of the system restore & he couldnt press the finish button, he turned it off by the button, so did it restore or not? whats a DMA? & how would I do that?

I wasnt blaming Talladega Nights, I did it on my computer here, last wk, & it worked fine also, it is a very odd prob.

Is the movie still on your hard drive? I know with my basic PC, I can't keep a movie on the HD. I have to delete it as soon as I burn it, otherwise my PC will be very slow.

Have you downloaded any software from not-well-known sites? Some of the not-well-known sites can have software with bugs, Spyware or viruses. Was the film a download through a Torrent site? If it was, the film might be infected with something. If it was from a pre-recorded DVD, there's no-way the DVD could cause it. If you did a copy from another copy that somebody made, you might have picked-up something that somebody burnt to the DVD without that person knowing. If you borrowed a copy that somebody made, ask that person if their PC is running slow.

If none of that helps, use System Restore or Norton Go Back. Keep in mind, don't go no further back from when you copied the DVD otherwise you'll remove wanted data and some of you dad's would go and that wouldn't make him happy neither if they are documents.

Maybe the disc was damaged/scratched that there were alot of read errors that caused the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers/IDE channels to go into PIO mode. Check blutach's siggy under "Media and Burning" > Fix your DMA.

If all else fails, reboot the system to clear memory, then do a system restore.
