What programs should I bring to a friend's house tonight.

I have a friend who is not hooked up to the net.

He wants me to bring him some programs to burn DVDs. His burner is unknown so I will have to wait and see what firmware is needed.

This is my list so far:
    • RipIt4Me
    • FixVTS
    • DVD Decrypter
    • DVD Shrink w/ImgBurn
    • ImgBurn
    • 7Zip(to zip and unzip them)
    • MenuShrink
    • PgcEdit and plugins
    • VobBlanker

I am I missing anything?? I have to burn these to an RW and bring them with me.

If it was me, before you load ANYTHING on your friends computer I would overhaul or clean-out your friends computer.

      Typical examples:

      clean out the registry

clean-up the hard drive of not needed folders and files

      defrag and reboot

      scan disk for errors

      reboot often

remove dead or unused software programs

      remove any un-necessary start-up programs

how are you going to do firmware updates on the optical drive without the internet (find out what optical drive your friend has and download the firmware update from your computer to a floppy disk and then install the firmware update on your friends computer.)

      update all software programs

Do anything you can do to increase the resources before you start to add software programs.

You can download the software programs you mentioned faster on a DVD-R or DVD+R instead of a DVD-RW

bring plenty of blank DVD-5 and DVD-9 if you friend has a dual layer burner.

You never mentioned what your friend's capabilities are? Based on info given, I agree with NightTran. Get your friend started & when they are comfortable bring in the other. IMHO you can't go wrong with any of those. You haven't got a pen drive yet Gary D?

Why 7zip? You could just make them normal .zip files and let Windows unzip them.

I would bring a copy of the Ripit4me guide so your friend can refresh what you have taught him.

In addition to what Nightran said.

              Good Luck

And maybe bring him the animated tutorial for RI4M, the FAQ and the Guide, and the guide for DVD Shrink too. MPC woukd be a nice PC based player for the DVDs

I don't know I am kind of leaning towards the beer & chips idea, & worry about the rest another day now.

If he has lots of backing up to do, MultiShrink might be handy as well.

And as backup, you could always bring Soup Avatar girl along, ( I love the soup) and see how much burning gets acomplished.
