    Burnt DVD stops playing abruptly

Hi. Quite a newbie at this.

I recently made a backup copy of a DVD i own using DVD Shrink. At first i tried backing up the whole DVD, menu and extras and all. The Backup process seemed to go fine. The burning process seemed to go fine too. When i inserted the disk into my player, however, the menu buttons took a long time to respond, and when i finally got the movie playing, it froze abruptly after about 6 minutes.

I tried to rip the DVD again, this time leaving out the menu and the extras. Again, everything seemed to work fine and i got the burnt DVD out. This time i noticed the burnt section of the disk (where it's a little less shiny) covered only a tiny portion of the disc. I compared this to the first disk i made and it was the same way. Strange considering how the movie was shrunk just enough to take up the whole disk.

I tried playing it on my player anyway. As expected, it again froze abruptly, this time about 9 minutes into the movie. This is causing me a fair bit of frustration because i've been trying for a few days now. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

I'll have to do that later. Quite busy now. The disks are by TDK.

Alright. The most frustrating thing happened. I currently use Iomega Hotburn Pro to do my burning. Thinking maybe that was the problem i decided to use Nero instead. Downloaded and installed it but it took an awfully long time for some reason, and then after dinner my dad deleted it. Before i go through the trouble of installing it again, could anybody tell me if i really need to. Hotburn Pro doesn't seem to offer burn logs.

For a really good burning program, try ImgBurn.

TDK aren't known for their excellence...I would do as Night suggested and try some Verbatims or Taiyo Yuden.

Well As For TDK Media that all i use and i can't remember when the last time i had a Bad Burn. Well i never ever use a Verbatum Disc yet because the TDK DVD+R Print-On Ones i use never once let me down.
