    Video Playback Problems...

I have a video that is .avi and have been trying to put subtitles onto it all day. Finally after about an hour of messing around with it i gave up on it and unistalled and programs I downloaded to do it (vodsub, virtualdub, ffdshow and some others...). Now after unistalling all of thoghs I cant play .avi files in WMP. the files play in divx player all the time. I have all the nesacasry codecs for video playback on windows xp but still nothing. When I try toplay .AVI a black screen shows(like the video is starting to play) and then nothing. I just freezes. please help!

    welcome to the forum

    download & install ffdshow

    and some others...
if ffdshow doesn't do the trick, you might want to list them

Run it through GSpot ,see what's needed !!!!

Download GSpot, a video codec identification utility

Which version of WMP you have? Try it again and directly after that do the following : START RUN and type eventvwr look for red crosses and post the text here.
