    harddrive

    i have an old gateway select1300 which i fried the motherboard trying to flash the bios my question is...i want to use the harddrive but i has windows ME installed....im running windows xp im my new system and want to use the old harddrive as a slave...question...what do i have to do to wipe it clean?...if i connect it as a slave will it cause conflict with xp?...please help

    connect it as slave and then right click on my computer, hit manage

    go to disk management, you can delete partitions, drives, and reformat there

    grab any data first tho

    if your master drive is a western digital you will have to change the jumper to master from single

        thanks it works..just one thing why are some or alot of my file names font turn blue color ?? there were all black, but now some are blue....i havent change font color?? could it be a bug or spywear???

          Open Folder Options in Control Panel.
          > Start > Settings > Control Panel. > Folder Options.
          > View tab
          de-select "Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in colour"

          3rd option from bottom

          Black is a "normal" file
          Blue is a compressed file
          Green is an encrypted file.

          You'll get more blue files as you use Disk clean up more as the older files are compressed to save space.
