    DVD burning problem

I've recently been having problems burning DVDs - I use DVDshrink and the encoding part goes fine but the burning seems to always fail. I've noticed that if I use rewritable DVDs it works, so I'm thinking the burning speed is the problem... am I right? what can I do?

What program are you burning with? If it is Nero then click this thread.

I checked DMA and it's set at DMA if available, I was told this was ok... am I wrong?

nero says your burner is running in pio mode, it's usually fairly accurate,
                    more so than people are

if you look further in device manager you can confirm

I don't know what to say, I just checked again and it clearly says DMA if available. maybe there's something I'm not getting, I'm new at all this and not a computer wizard at all...

looking in the first primary IDE controllers, it says not applicable for device 0 and 1, in the 2nd first primary IDE controllers, it says ultra DMA mode 5 for device 0 and not applicable for device 1. However, in secondary IDE controllers, there is one place where it says PIO only instead of DMA if applicable, should I change that one?

I downloaded the nero update that shrink0 suggested and reduced burning speed to 2.4x and it worked!! chewy, should I still look into this DMA-PIO issue?
