PC has a will of its own

I know somebody'll think "Hey if you didn't know what you were doing wy did you go on and do it?". The answer is very simple: "How am I going to learn anything if I don't try?".
Therefore I've installed and unistalled dozens of programs (even upgraded BIOS - at least I think) and something somewhere has gone wrong.
I have a pc with two internal HDs and one external HD, two dvd burners and the only other thing I added is a USB card.
After one of my several experiments a while back I noticed the PC identified a new dvd drive (that just is not there). It could have something to do with Deamon tools and virtual drives, but I unistalled Deamon a long time ago and the imaginary drive stayed. A few days ago, my pc identified a new floppy drive, naturally the thing isn't any. I have tried using device manager to unistall, but if I instruct to identify changes in hardware or reboot the fake drives will appear again.

After reading another post I ran Nero's info tool which I attach - hope it's useful.

I've attached a few screenshots too.

Also, even though it might be a totally different issue, I've lately been getting problems unzipping/unraring due to CRC errors.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Try reinstalling Daemon tools. Then right click on the icon that's near your clock and go to Virtual CD/DVD-ROM and then go to Set number of devices and choose disable.

floppy drive, learn to use bios, especially when you go to reflash one

experimenting is fine, but learn to clean up your messes as you go along

crc errors can be a sign of badly framented hard drives

Thank you both for taking the time.

@Dialysis1 - tried that but I get the following message:

        Initialization error 0.
This program requires at least windows 2000 with SPDT 1.28 or higher.
        Kernel debugger must be deactivated.

(Ihave XP sp2 - don't understand the SPDT or kernel thing)

        @Chewy
Yuo're right, should learn to clean up my messes without waiting so long. Got any links that can explain BIOS to a Layman like myself?

download and install the 3.47 version

there are few if any good links on understanding bios, there are too many variations from manufacturer to manufacturer

download your motherboard manual, takes notes when you make changes

          not a beginner field

I'm back. It took a while, but as well as the Deamon Tools thing I had to move 40-50 GB from C: to my external HD and defrag. Also I came across a new problem (tell you at the end).

Deamon tools gave another error in installation (something like ports already busy) but just trying to install the 3.47 version worked Chewy. Thanks.

I'll try to work on the BIOS if you say the floppy drive is associated with that.

New problem. When I restart once I get the background image the pc pauses(approx. three minutes) before explorer loads. After that everything seems to run normally. Tried scanning for virus, mal/ad/spyware with no results (luckily). Tried running Hijackthis and all seems in order.

updating bios is one thing, not understanding it is another, it's better to have a guru supervise the first couple of times

I know you're right Chewy. I read an article about overclicking and... I guess I got carried away (LOL).
The good news is that after 15 hours and 20 boots I solved the second problem. It was Norton. Had to recurr to the removal tool (can you believe that? Norton just hogs your pc even after you threw it out!!)
Now I just have to get rid if that floppy drive that isn't there.
                Thank you again Chewy.

Well Chewy I'm not sure I did what you said. I went in the BIOS Main menu and "disabled" something called "Legacy diskette A" (only "legacy" I know of is that of Kain ) and it worked.
It's been a busy couple of days, lots and lots of googling about stuff, but performance is up and security should be ok (Avast!, Comodo and Windows Defender).
Chewy. You've been tremendously helpful. As usual.
