Improving the Quality of a Digital Video

I'm currently editing a digital video (with Ulead's VideoStudio 6) that has a sequence that needs better contrast and lightening.

Is there some utility or filter I can use to accomplish this? My OS is
    W2K 2nd. Ed.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

First off, I'd update your Ulead. I have version 9, and although I don't use a DV camera, it is specialized for them.

And for the brightness and stuff, try AVISynth stuff, maybe.
