Can you combine partitions on XP ??

I have 2 hard drives in my desktop and the main one that I use has to paritions on it the primary partition is only 16gb and the other which is not really ever used has like 96gb. the 16gb is pretty much full now and the computer has slowed down considerable I have run spyware antivir, defrag etc. Can you combine these without reformatting or losing data ?

why do that, you have the best setup now

I run everything off a 15 gig system partition also

I leave 6-8 gigs free usually, I keep all large semi-permanent data on other partitions, large game installs can go on a programs folder on the other partition

run disk clean up after moving stuff off the system partition and then defrag again

your swap file is probably running out of room

Yea what I have been doing is running system files on the 15gb and all my video work on the 96gb. I would like to resize it maybe.

What is the best way to swap files over to another partition
my file swap is probably running out of room ? What does that mean chewy ?

I don't know any freeware to create or resize partitions without the need of reinstalling the OS. For commercial tool, I recommend you to use Partition Magic by Norton. With this tool, you can resize your second partition from 96 GB down to, for example, 80 GB and then add that 16 GB to the 15 GB C: drive. You will still have 2 partitions and best all, you won't need windows reinstalling

GParted. Included on most Linux distributions, but also available as a Live CD. Creates, destroys, formats, resizes, with support for MS and Linux file systems.

just move the files, tile windows vertically and move them from one partition to another

use a program like treesize free to find lost/misplaced large files
