A precaution?

This computer I am working on(running windows as a repair disk) has scanned clean from safe mode with trojan hunter, but task manager won't work.
Just in case the the repair doesn't fix it I found this script file from my favorite msmvp's site

That's a great place for tips and tweaks, I know I've used my share of them.

I would run the script and read and remember where it puts the back up of those files, it will be too late after the fact, the computer I am working on
is hosed somewhere else and windows kills even my copy from running on his machine like it should. He was using windows update?

Well every scan including a professional bart avast boot cd came up clean,
ran windows as a repair disk and task manager is still hosed, got something to do with the video drivers, had to remove the agp component from device manager to get vid drivers to load(on an older GF4 vid card).

Here's the kicker, after removing a bunch of crud programs I looked at the roxio easy cd 6 he had installed, it was $10 from compusa on clearance.

Somehow it had hosed movie maker 2 and windows and firewire capture of DV.

I also had a nasty once that had disabled my TaskManager. Followed one of the methods at this link http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Taskmanager_error.htm to restore it. Bookmarked the page afterwards in case I may ever need it again. Hope it helps.
