    Dual Sound Cards?

I just bought a Creative Xmod USB soundcard. My PCI slots are all filled so I have to have it USB.

The only way to make it output sound was to disable my onboard soundcard via Device Manager. However, I want my onboard to be useable, as the USB card only has one line in jack, what if I want mic as well? Or if I want to use headphones, I don't wanna reach behind the computer.

Any way to have two useable sound cards at the same time?

it's all a problem of selecting which sound output/input thru which device
      for each application

a friend that does mobile dj stuff uses 2 in his rig and cues up one song and listens to it with headphones while another is playing to the audience

once you get the resource conflicts settled if any?

Well, every time I enable the SoundMAX one (integrated card), it becomes the default, so I can't hear anything through the Xmod.

But certain audio editing programs won't work with the Xmod, so I'd like to get them both working if I could.

I have a built in sound and another external Creative sound card and they work perfect. Just as Chewy said, it's just that you want to adjust which one is working for each application as all of your sound application will use the default one if you don't specify otherwise from the program settings itself.
