I'm not a computer buff I just wanted to know, when you hae an onboard graphics card installed and you install A second one do you just put it in and jack the moniter to the new graphics card and leave the other one alone.

You need to boot into the BIOS & disable the onboard video, have your driver disk ready for the new card, or better yet, download latest drivers from vid. card manufacture website.

newer or more recent systems u dont have to do anything. just put in ur new agp/pce-xpress card and plug ur monitor to it.
why, because most of them in BIOS are set as Auto which detects if any card is placed in slot , or by default the new card in slot overrides the onboard video.

That is true and the only thing you need to do as stated above load the current drivers.

All true, ati & doc, but he didn't say how new his system is; On my pc (built in '05, I think...) I have to disable vid. in BIOS, as well as the sound card.
