Notebook Cooling? Is There a Way?

My wife had to have this Gateway Celeron Notebook last year.

It seemed it was getting warmer than it should, so we took it back.

They said this was normal for Celeron Processors.

They told us if we were that concerned we could buy a cooling pad. We bought a Targus brand that was crap and really did nothing.

Is a cooling pad the answer? Anyone ever have the same issue?

    What was your solution?

    Thanks All

I've seen people use a dish drainer to lift the notebook higher up and allow air flow underneath it. A really cheap and electricity free solution

      Thanks Admin,

I'm still trying to talk her into it.

We will try that until we can get a little more compact solution.

I'll keep track of the temps before and after to see how that works.

I think it usually gets to 130-140F.

I learned the hard $50 way on the USB Pads.

Can you define "Nice Stands"? Retail? NewEgg?

          Something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834998061

Thank You and Mrs. Burrell say's Thank You!!

We ordered tonight, plus gave me an excuse to squeeze in a new burner and cooling fan as well.

Only 9 bucks for shipping on everything, nice save.

Chewy you have shown a major example of why DVF is so valuable I appreciate that in this thread as well as MANY of my others, not to mention all of the other people you have helped.

@Admin, Sorry couldn't talk her into the dish drainer idea. I did try, seemed to make sense. I was even willing to shop for a more fashionable color, but she wouldn't budge.
It sounded not to bad to me, Go Figure. I do appreciate the tip.

use the same stand, one risky thing about it is you can only tilt the screen 90 degree relative to horizontal plane if you have 17" lap top it will just tip over. It's only best on 15" max. screen. >>>I made one instead with an MDF and a piece of round stainless steel bar bend in two "D" 's and drilled four holes on the wood where to stick it in. To fold just pull the bars. Even cheaper by admin's collander.

I keep my laptop on top of my JVC VCR. The vent holes in the top of the VCR allow air and the height makes it easier to type...

I guess that LT of yours is also glued to the VCR so you can carry them both on your travels easy hahahaha

Too late to rescue my VCR I dump years ago.

                            One cost £12 pounds (black)
The other I made for no cost and works as good.
