I was visiting a friend this afternoon who was using Nero to copy a Dvd which I have seen him use many times before with no problem, Nero wouldn't do it. He has 2 drives, LG & Samsung which would copy the image to the hard drive but when it came to burn, both drives would wind up as if they were going to start burning & then wind down, they did this a few times until Nero quit with an error. Now this PC hadn't been used in over a week. I told him to take the ISO image from his hard drive & burn with ImgBurn. Setup to copy 3 copies with ImgBurn but right at the beginning, ImgBurn comes up with an error & won't make the first copy but goes on to burn the second copy on the first blank disc & completes the whole job with no problem. On it's own I wouldn't have thought much about this but I experienced the same wind up & wind down problem with my LiteON drive while trying to do a 20X burn, it finished but it would wind up to a certain speed & then wind all the way down, all the way through, (it burns at normal speeds no problem now, I tested). Again on their own I wouldn't think much of this but then I spoke with another friend who is very experienced & in the PC business (he does everything), anyway he tells me he has been getting calls from people having to reinstall programs that used to work like Nero & others having to do System Restores to a point before Tuesday, (hopefully you get what I mean). Even his own machines at home, of course because he knew what he was doing, he could find the faults & fix them, unlike us limited knowledge folks. Long post I know, hopefully you didn't fall asleep reading it, but I just thought I would ask.
