    PowerPoint Question

OK, I asked this before, but no one responded

I want to make a photo slide show, using several hundred pictures I took. I don't want to have to manually insert each one, and resize so it fits the slide (I have Office 2000... I know the new ones auto-resize but that doesn't matter if I don't have it!)

I know there are macros you can use that do stuff like that... does anyone know any, or another automatic way to insert tons of pictures, one per slide?

The faster way would be to use a simpler program made just for picture slide shows.

Powerpoint is made to do much more elaborate presentations.

You may want to try ProShow gold or Ulead DVD/VCD picture show.
    (Just a sugestion)
Unless you want to go more elaborate with your presentation.

The 2000 version is a lot more limited to what the newer versions can do you may want to upgrade.

(We have the 2000 version at work and it sucks, I have 2002 XP and 2003 pro at home, much better) they may not cost that much to upgrade to since they are on the 2007 version now.

I will be doing a more ellaborate presentation... putting words over the pictures, and putting transition effects, etc.

But I have to get those pictures in PPT first

      --EDIT--

I am happy with the 2000 version. Some of my relatives have 2003, and I absolutely hated it! There's no more auto animation effects (to my knowledge), instead it's all manual and that takes too long!
Occasionaly, I will use the 2003 version at friends' houses to make those handy CDs, but otherwise... 2000 is better IMO. The new ones focus more on looks and less on features, Office 2007 looks like something they pulled out of a dumpster!

You have to be kidding. Have you already tried it or just said that for fun? How about the Photo Album feature in the Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 with auto-resize, picture styles, transition,...look like something from a dumpster too?

        Regards

I just don't like the look of it!
If they had the old 2000 theme, it might be OK... but it's too modern looking.

I'm guessing they still don't have the auto animations 200 had? (the little star icon in the toolbar you'd click on and you could do the typerwriter key effect, or the drive-by one, etc.) 2003 got rid of those (as far as I could see) and it's doubtful they put those back.

2000 has transitions... are the new ones really much better? And as far as auto-resize, that's why I'm asking about macros

Office 2007 is a major improvement over the older versions IMO, and the main reason is the new UI.

The ui on 2007 is very cumbersome, IMHO. There will be people that like it, but I do not.

Same here, newer is not always better!

Just look at Vista for example

I have access to office 2007 at work I still prefer office small business 2000. I also have office 1997 because when I was sending my resume out I had to send it out in a earlier version than 2000. So newer is not always better.

PowerPoint 2003 does NOT do auto resize. A friend of mine has it and I tried it... does the same darn thing it does in 2000.

What's the earliest version that does auto resize, I'll see if I can get a demo or something
(and I say that because I don't want to BUY a new one, and after the 30/60 days or whatever expires it doesn't matter as I only need to get those pictures in and it should open fine in Office 2000)

No I think that it also locks access to the file also.

Well still, which is the oldest that does auto resize? I'll mess around with it

Photo Story 3 in XP media edition seems to do all you want to.....I am in the process of creating a slideshow from 1500 slides, it will only put 300 in one story though......

Does it do them automatically... like import every picture in a folder? That would be the easiest, if such a program exists
