here's a good example of how to play the specials

this case(no PSU) is 40$ with free shipping before the 10$ rebate

now if we add the coolmaster 500watt extreme power supply as a combo, we still get free shipping and an extra 10$ off

fairly decent case and power supply for 80$ and a 10$ rebate

Want to know exactly how good New Egg is? They actually price under wholesale! I work for a VAR that has accounts with two of the largest distributors in North America, one is in fact the largest in the world that ALL manufacturers go through to reach retail. Often we have in fact purchased from New Egg for re-sale simply because the "retail" price was lower than our wholesale cost.

In fact New Egg is actually listed in CRN (Computer Reseller Network) magazine as one of the top distributors of IT equipment, even though they are not a distributor...imagine that. Interesting that so many VARs would prefer to purchase retail, for resale, than from a distributor. Just goes to show that buying wholesale is really not all that it is cracked up to be.

@SBN I agree about newegg the majority of the time but I still shop around and have found better deals. Recently the Arctic Cooler 64 HSF and the HP LaserJet 1018 printer. I found better deals elsewhere. With the printer it was $64.98 at B&M stores and at HP.com with free shippping but tax and other online sites after a $65 rebate and was $79.98 at newegg.com not including tax and $9.99 shipping with no rebate allowed. Seems newegg chose not to have consumers participate in the HP rebate on this printer but did on other HP printers.

Like you said newegg is good but it still pays to shop around. I do

                  For Soup

@Soup, I like you look at those deals and just shake my head. I am looking at a new Honda car and it costs $27,000 K in Canada $22,000 with navagation system in the USA and the CAN $ is @ 94 cents. The car is made in Ontarin Canada. However, if you haven't seen this computer site check it out it has a Canadian link also just click on the flag in the top left corner. Some great deal if you subscribe to there monthly e-mail, they have some crazy deals in those e-mails.

I posted about this printer deal at newegg but they wouldn't do the rebate. But Looks like newegg and HP came to their senses for this deal. There is now a $64.50 rebate from HP and the rebate form is linked/listed on newegg so now a greater deal for this printer

                      HP Laserjet 1018 Printer
                      Original Price: $129.99
                      You Save: $30.00
                      $99.99
                      ($35.49 after $64.50 Mail-In Rebate)

And only $2.99 3 day shipping

Edit removed link and added tiny url

I bought that drive last night along with a new CM case for $14 after rebates.

Thats right, I said I bought a case...you know what that means.

I'll probably be looking for wookie guidance before it's all said and done.

i Love Newegg couldnt live without them

I build, repair, and upgrade systems for customers for my business, if it was not for newegg or mwave i couldnt be as competitive without going thru the hassle of becoming a vendor for each manufactor that i buy their products

For online purchases I use newegg for 99.5% of my normal purchases
I also like mWave never had an issure with them as well

for customs stuff i like FrozenCPU but they are expensive, but they have outstandign service as well, so I ll pay a bit extra

In my book Customer Service comes before Price but Newegg has both
