dxdiag freeze

Hi i am running an athlon 5600 x2 2.8, 2 gigs ram, with an nvidia 8800 gts with windows vista ultimate, not sure if it matters. After installing tsunami codec pack 3.9.9 my dxdiag fails with the error directshow could not be opened. If i proceed the dxdiag will simply freeze and be closed by vista. If i bypass the directshow the dxdiag will finish. Has anyone else encountered this problem or know how to fix it?

kind of an old codec pack to be using with vista

can you recommend a new codec pack to use with vista that wont cause conflicts?

I have heard a lot of this one mentioned, not too up on vista or codec packs, ended up reloading too many computers with W98 and XP

Uninstall the codec pack, or better yet, perform a System Restore. Then install ffdshow and be done with it.
