              First steps in HDRI

Here is a first result from my HDRI tests.

The first picture below is made from only 3 different photos but the output is still amazing compared to the single shots.

That came out beautiful! What program are you using to render the photos?

I used PS but there are numerous HDR tools available for this job:

                  - easyHDR (freeware)

                  - Qtpfsgui (freeware)

                  - Photomatix (tends to very [too intense often] colours and creates lots of noise, which will have to be reduced)

                  - FDRTools

                  - Dynamic-PHOTO HDR

                  +++

btw: don't forget to take your different pictures with the SAME aperture - vary the exposure time!

                    Thanks for the tip

I will have to hunt down something interesting to try this with.

                      Another HDR image

                      Inside view in a cathedral.

4 different pictures were the basis for the HDR image with additional image manipulation within photoshop afterwards.

That's really cool! Kind of like what they use when fixing the senior pictures for the yearbook!

You do have to have a quality pic for it to work well. I tried it with one that was zoomed and cropped and it looked terrible.

I'd rather try to manually accomplish the job with imaging software like photoshop because you have full control over what is smoothed, how much is smoothed or which parts need to be "healed".

Tutorials like this one for PS can be found easily.

I used the following keywords in Google: photoshop skin smoother tutorial
