Microsoft’s decision as to when to release XP SP3 is probably being driven as much by “politics” as by code readiness. If Microsoft releases XP SP3 soon, some businesses and end users might opt to stay with XP longer, rather than moving to Vista.

Will Vista become obsolete before it even gets a strangle hold?

With M$ saying XP support will be stopped in 2014, I have the time to wait.

Probably both politics and a marketing ploy. If M$ could ever plug all the security holes in any OS it would be good. If by 2014 they fix them all in XP I'm good to go forever the way things stand right now neither XP or Vista is secure and Windows 7 probably won't be either.
