Better Speakers

I bought a new PC recently that was about two and-a-half months ago and the speakers that came with it are as useful as a bike with square wheels at times when I play music because they make a buzzing sound. At first I thought it was something going on in my internal hard drive. If I buy speakers with a super woofer for best sound will I still need to upgrade my sound card even though my PC is brand-new? This might sound like a dumb question but some companies always leave something out in a PC where we still have to pay more money apart from what we WANT TO BUY. I wonder if my PC can handle more and better speakers. Is there a way I can show what my sound card is like for info?

I don't have my stereo plugged into my PC. Sometimes I listen to music from any of my hard drives but the left speaker causes a buzzing sound at times. I like to have a lot of music at the ready in any hard drive to save me the time of getting up and putting a disc in my DVD player. I might sound lazy but a PC can make us all lazy at times because everything is as far as a touch of a button.

The reason why I asked what I asked in my previous message is because I don't know if I need a sound card that has to match the surround and prologic speakers' watts.

any newer onboard sound should do fine hooked into premium power speakers

you should be able to get decent 5.1 or 2.1 systems for reasonable prices these days but do yourself a favour and go for a system with a subwoofer!

Speaking on something of a simular nature. Is there a way to find out if I have a Firewire card pre-installed because when I bought one for my older PC, it had two ordinary USB sockets and another that was slightly different. It's chunky-looking and it's not an oblong shape, it has three curves on the right-hand side of the socket and I have that chunky-looking socket next to two USB sockets on the front of my tower at the bottom. I don't want to buy a new Firewire card and find out I'm buying what I already have.

Many thanks for the help. It appears that I don't have a Firewire card after all. 99% of me thought I had because of those USB sockets that I mentioned. Mostly because of the chunky one. Well, we can't win them all. Now I know I have to upgrade even more. What annoys me is I have other things installed that I don't need and what I do need never came with my PC.

I have other sockets. One is called MS/MS Duo, another is called SD/MMC and I have no idea what they are for.

MS/MS Duo Would be for a Sony Memory Stick (Cybershot Camera) and SD/MMC would be for a memory card. Usually most cameras (except Sony). SD/MMC is becoming also very popular with PDA's, Cell Phones, and digital cameras.
