    software autorun?

i got a 3rd pc recently (xp home), when i insert a software cd, ie nero, etc. i get windows showing me the contents of the disc and i have to manually open the setup.exe, rather than it simply booting the disc.

i see no option to boot the disc in drive properties>autoplay tab.

    anybody?

does the disk have an autorun.inf file?

if so then your autoinsert is turned off

I use imgburn or another software to turn mine off, they can turn it back on, have to reboot since it's a registry setting

In imgburn, settings under device, operating system options

if not that then use one of the earlier programs

        the registry is a bear

really. i thought it was in windows settings. i can just open the disc then i guess and click the exe. wonder why some software cd's autorun, others do not.

if autoinsert is turned on already then it's something funny that's been set somewhere else

software cd's come in all flavors, maybe windows is picking up mixed content and overriding the autorun.inf to open with explorer
